Hearth and Hamlet Demo: Is It Still Available?

Current status

The demo is not currently listed on the Steam store page as of August 25, 2026, and a store search returns no separate demo entry. The 1.0 build replaced it at launch on August 19.

That is the plain answer to the question most people are searching. What follows is the context, because the demo period explains a lot about the state of the released game.

What the demo was

  • Launched April 20, 2026 for Steam Medieval Fest.
  • Patched through Steam Next Fest in June, reaching demo build v1.0.46.
  • Drove the wishlist count past 70,000 by June 10, which the developer announced going into Next Fest.

The demo covered the opening arc - campfire to an established settlement - rather than the full run to the coronation.

What changed between the demo and 1.0

Two things worth knowing if your impression of the game comes from the demo:

  1. The launch path was rebuilt. Demo-era black screens and startup freezes led the developer to change how the game launches and to add Vulkan and Compatibility (OpenGL) launch options. See the troubleshooting guide.
  2. Linux is now native. The demo had no native Linux build; the full release ships one.

Since launch the game has taken four more patches in six days, all listed on the patch notes page.

Do demo saves transfer?

No. The demo was a separate build and its progress does not import into the full game. If you played the demo extensively, expect to replay the opening - which moves faster the second time, especially if you follow the storage-first order in the beginner guide.

Is the full game worth the price without trying it first?

At $7.99, with 79% of 1,444 Steam reviews positive as of August 25, 2026, the risk is small - and Steam’s refund window covers a couple of hours, which is a meaningful fraction of a full run.
